When Seth Woodward heard that because of the government shutdown, the federal government was going to stop paying out SNAP benefits to families that can’t afford groceries, he had a thought.
The owner of two burger and ice cream stands in Owensboro figured he could make lives just a little bit easier for those in need by giving out free food to feed the kids who might otherwise have to miss meals.
So, on Saturday, when the SNAP dollars didn’t hit people’s accounts as they normally would, his two Wonder Whip locations started giving out free kids’ meals — a grilled cheese sandwich, fries and a drink — to whoever brought their kids to the restaurants…
