FTCC Receives $500,000 Grant to Launch Cardiovascular Healthcare Training Program for Local Residents

Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) has received a $500,000 grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation. The funds will support the Training and Education for Advanced Cardiovascular Healthcare (TEACH) project. This project aims to meet the need for skilled cardiovascular healthcare workers in the Sandhills Region of North Carolina. The grant will help create a Cardiovascular Technology program in partnership with Cape Fear Valley Health. The program will prepare students for jobs in local hospitals and clinics.

The TEACH project will offer two tracks. The Invasive track leads to certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS). The Non-Invasive track prepares students to become Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographers (RCS). These tracks will train students for roles in cardiac catheterization labs, interventional radiography, and echocardiography.

FTCC is also planning pathways for current healthcare professionals. Those with associate degrees and credentials in fields like radiography, nursing, and respiratory therapy can access advanced cardiovascular training. This will help professionals seeking to advance their careers…
