On October 9, Julian Lee Myhand, 36, was sentenced for an incident that occurred in August following a no contest plea and conviction for aggravated assault.
Myhand took a plea deal that was accepted by Judge James Colaw, where he technically received the maximum sentence, five years in prison; however, because Myhand qualifies as a prison release reoffender and habitual violent felony offender, a judge could potentially impose a sentence that’s harsher than the maximum. Under the conditions of his plea deal, Myhand didn’t have to worry about the court imposing a harsher sentence due to his criminal background.
According to the arrest report, Myhand and the victim were at the witness’ house when they got into an argument about Myhand leaving. Myhand “stated that he will shoot her and pulled out a firearm,” the arrest report states.
Once detained by police, Myhand denied having a firearm during the incident, and a search showed he had no gun on him.
A second witness who lived in a neighboring house told police he heard Myhand and the victim arguing and that he threatened to shoot her. The second witness stated Myhand came over to his yard and said he was “about that life today.”…
