KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Work inside a Knoxville man’s apartment is finally finished after it took five months to complete the job.
No longer is the ceiling exposed above Arthur Howard’s shower area. A new walk-in shower inside Howard’s apartment, managed by Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation, was installed late last spring, but some things were left undone. It took until just a few days ago, and a call to the manager’s office, for workmen to return. Now, his doctor-approved walk-in shower is finally finished. Drywall above the shower now covers the ceiling, but it didn’t look like this before.
Two weeks ago, there were no ceiling tiles above his shower. Floor tiles were missing too, as new ones were never laid once the new shower was installed. The outer shell of the shower was not completed, leaving a hole. When we first talked with Howard in mid-October, he was frustrated with the lack of progress.
“I’ve contacted KCDC maintenance. They have changed management, head management, two of them in the last two months. The first one came down and looked at it, took pictures. He said, ‘We’ll take care of it, no problem.’ He left, they got a new one in,” said Howard in October.
