Intense flames force firefighters into defensive mode in Los Angeles

Firefighters spent more than an hour and a half battling a stubborn blaze in downtown Los Angeles’ Fashion District early Monday morning.

The fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m. inside an occupied one-story commercial building on the 700 block of Pico Boulevard.

The intense flames forced arriving firefighters into a defensive mode, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Eventually, the 109 firefighters knocked down the blaze in 1 hour and 38 minutes…
