Hillsborough County Launches Home Repair Aid for Low-Income Residents with Community Meetings to Guide Applications

Hillsborough County is reaching out to aid residents who need assistance repairing their homes through the Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program by Affordable Housing Services, offering a series of community meetings designed to guide applicants through the process. According to the official county announcement, the initiative concentrates on aiding families classified as low, very low, and moderate-income within specific areas of the county.

Through the State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funding, residents will be able to fulfill the necessary repairs for their homes to meet the Florida Building Code standards. Assistance will cover areas such as roof repair, electrical and plumbing systems, structural failures, and environmental issues among others. These efforts align with the mission to make houses safe, decent, and sanitary—a fundamental right that, with income restrictions applied, focuses on homesteaded single-family homes for at least two years.

The county has planned five various meetings throughout Hillsborough, where staff will be available to review applications, pinpoint incomplete documentation, and accept completed paperwork. Residents are encouraged to attend with their applications and supporting documents to ensure their swift placement on the waiting list. The county further eases the application process by providing forms available for download online, with submissions accepted between yesterday and Feb. 2, 2026…
