Man accepts plea deal in Elkton assault case

ELKTON — A man accused of punching a woman in the face several times and choking her at an Elkton residence in May — during a loud domestic dispute that had been mistaken as the sound of a gunshot — is facing up to 10 years in prison after accepting a plea deal, according to Cecil County Circuit Court records.

The defendant — Kevin Edward Grant, 63 — entered an Alford plea to second-degree assault on Monday as part of a plea agreement reached by Assistant State’s Attorney Gavin Patashnick and Grant’s lawyer, Assistant Public Defender Gary Brown, court records show.
