UH police investigate harassment claim after Quran burned at Muslims students’ event

Police at the University of Houston are investigating a complaint against a man who interrupted a Muslim Students Association gathering during prayer last week and threw a copy of the Islamic holy book, the Quran, into a bonfire.

The Quran was saved from the fire by a member of the association before it was fully burned, the group said.

The incident was captured on video and posted on social media accounts under the name Christopher Svochak, who posts videos of himself preaching Christianity on college campuses and arguing with students. All three of his pinned Instagram posts showcase his confrontations with Muslims. His bio on the platform reads: “Follower of Christ.”…
