These individuals are required to work their usual 40-hour weeks without receiving a paycheck until funds are appropriated. The uncertainty of the situation has led many to seek additional short-term work to supplement their income. A concerned government worker took to social media to ask for suggestions on any small businesses in town that might have short-term projects they’d be willing to pay someone to do. The tasks could range from cleaning out a back room, organizing files, to tedious data entry work.
