The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested James Crawley, 31, in connection with the death of 3-year-old Zy’Onne Forney in Southeast Washington, DC. The incident occurred on May 8, 2024. Officers responded to the 1400 block of L Street Southeast and found the child unresponsive. Zy’Onne Forney was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide.
On November 3, 2025, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Crawley. He is from Southeast DC.
