77-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in Las Vegas Collision

A tragic event unfolded on a Las Vegas roadway yesterday morning when a 77-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle. According to FOX5 Vegas, the collision occurred just after 7 a.m. on North Shaumber Road, near West Grand Teton Drive. Law enforcement officials stated that the car was driving on the wrong side of the road when it hit the cyclist.

The cyclist, who remains unnamed, reportedly attempted to avoid the oncoming 2007 Mercedes SL550 but was unable to evade the crash. The driver, 69-year-old Charles Carter, displayed signs of impairment at the scene, as reported by witnesses and subsequently confirmed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He was arrested and faces charges of DUI and reckless driving. This marks as the 132nd traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of LVMPD for the year.
