HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Charter Commission met on Monday, Nov. 3.

Maui Council meeting looks to fill vacancy following Councilmember Tasha Kama’s death

It’s part of a once-a-decade effort to update the City’s charter, which is the equivalent of its constitution.

The Commission has received dozens of suggested changes from a wide array of public voices.

“We are scheduling for Nov. 17 through February an initial review of all of the proposals for completeness by the commission here,” said Dawn Szewczyk, Honolulu Charter Commission Chair. “And then corporation counsel will be conducting jurisdictional review, and then staff will be classifying each proposal as need more information or complete.”…
