Akron man sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing illegal ‘Glock switch’ firearm

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich announced Wednesday that Maurice Arnold, 33, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for illegally possessing a “Glock switch” firearm and other offenses.

A “Glock switch” is an illegal, attachable device, roughly the size of a quarter, that allows a semi-automatic pistol to operate as a machine gun capable of fully automatic gunfire.

According to a report issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in January 2025, law enforcement’s recovery of Glock switches has increased 784% since 2019 to 5,816 switches removed from the streets in 2023 alone…
