ONEONTA — A person was in custody after allegedly stealing a State Police cruiser from a mechanic’s shop overnight and driving it across several counties, ending in Rensselaer County early Wednesday.
Investigators were interviewing the unidentified person, who was taken into custody, State Police said in a statement. It was unclear whether the individual had been charged with a crime as of Wednesday morning.
The patrol vehicle was undergoing repairs at the shop when it was taken sometime in the early morning hours, police said. A spokesperson for State Police did not immediately respond to questions about where the shop was located…
