New police HQ could cost Boca Raton taxpayers $124 a year, voters to decide

BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — Boca Raton voters will decide on March 10, 2026, whether to approve a $175 million bond to build a new police department headquarters at an estimated cost of $190 million.

If passed, the bond would be repaid through property taxes, with an estimated average of about $124 a year for taxpayers for the next 30 years. The city says its tax rate would still remain lower than similar cities.

“This is the biggest project for Boca Raton in recent history and it’s not often the city goes to taxpayers to ask for funding for a project like this,” said Deputy City Manager & Chief Financial Officer Jim Zervis…
