Former SummitMedia WZZK Birmingham, AL (104.7) PD Mike “Sandman” Sanders lost his home in an Oct. 31 fire that engulfed two city blocks of Birmingham’s Southside area. Beyond personal effects, Sanders lost years of photographs and other memorabilia. A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Sanders in getting back on his feet.
“He is in need of everything from everyday essentials, that we all take for granted, toiletries, clothing, coats, jackets, shoes, food, gas, and those are all for the short-term,” the fundraising page reads. “In the weeks and months ahead, he will need long-term support, bedding, towels, linens, bed, furniture, kitchen items and most importantly a roof over his head, so he can start to rebuild the life that he lost in just a few short hours.
