Speeding BMW Driver Crashes On Route 4, Flees Into Woods Before K9 Sniffs Him Out, Police Say

A 34-year-old Bogota man was arrested after police say he crashed a BMW on Route 4 in Paramus and fled into the woods, where a K9 tracked him down late Monday, Nov. 3.

Officers spotted a black BMW X5 speeding east on Broadway near Midland Avenue around 10:50 p.m., according to Fair Lawn Sgt. Eric Eleshewich. Officers followed at a safe distance and did not initiate a pursuit.

The vehicle, operated by Max E. Almonte, crashed while merging onto Route 4 East from the flyover, police said. Almonte then jumped over the concrete barrier onto Route 4 West and ran into the wooded area behind the Hyatt, Eleshewich said…
