Cumberland County to Light Up Green for Veterans Week, Inviting Residents to Join in Support

Cumberland County in Fayetteville, North Carolina, will join the 2025 Operation Green Light for Veterans. County buildings will be lit green from November 4 to November 11, 2025. The event aligns with Veterans Day and is part of a national effort led by the National Association of Counties (NACo). The goal is to honor military veterans and raise awareness about their challenges and available resources.

Operation Green Light is in its fifth year. It began with programs in New York in 2021. By 2023 and 2024, more than 450 counties across the country participated. The campaign is a partnership between NACo and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers. It aims to show support for veterans in local communities.

Kirk deViere, Chairman of the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners, noted the county’s close ties to the military, especially with Fort Bragg nearby.
