Lake Lanier algae causes water odor in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Algae blooms at Lake Lanier are causing weird-smelling water in DeKalb County.

Officials have assured the public that despite the unusual smell the water is safe to drink. Appen Media partner Atlanta News First reported that the source of the water supply is the Lake Lanier-Chattahoochee River system. The issue has also been reported in Fulton County.
