Ex-cop from Massachusetts arrested in blood-stained room at new development

A retired police officer from Massachusetts was arrested in a blood-stained room at a new development near The Villages.

The wife of 65-year-old Lawrence Sullivan had dialed 911 at about 1 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She said that her husband had “consumed a high amount of vodka and was acting strangely.”

Lake County Fire Rescue was first on the scene and found “visible blood throughout the bedroom and bathroom” of the home on Port Blue Way in the new Hammock Oaks development. Sullivan was “highly agitated” and began threatening EMS personnel. He said he was a “retired cop and knows what he was doing,” the report said.

There was a visible laceration on his left ear. Sullivan said he had fallen. Concluding he had fallen and suffered a possible head injury, the EMS personnel wanted to transport him to a hospital. He resisted their efforts.

The EMS crew managed to get him onto a stretcher, but Sullivan used his right hand to strike one of them in the groin…
