The Savannah Tribune Celebrated 150 Years with a Sneaker Ball and Community Shoe Drive to Benefit Union Mission

In celebration of its 150th Anniversary, The Savannah Tribune—one of the city’s oldest and most respected newspapers—hosted a memorable Sneaker Ball, transforming the traditional gala into a community-driven shoe collection event. Attendees were invited to donate new or gently used sneakers, all of which were delivered directly to Union Mission by The Savannah Tribune’s leadership and staff, demonstrating their enduring commitment to the Savannah Community. “We would like to thank everyone who donated, especially our larger donors, including Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, Virginia Edwards-Maynor, the Elmore family and Paul and Keenya Mosley,” said Shirley James, Publisher of The Savannah Tribune.
