Elderly woman dies, man injured after truck hits them in crosswalk in East El Paso

A 57-year-old man allegedly failed to yield the right of way to pedestrians, resulting in the death of an elderly woman and injuries to another man in East El Paso, authorities said.

The man was driving a 2019 Ford F150 about 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 26 and exiting a parking lot near the intersection of George Dieter Drive and Pendale Road, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Detective Judy Oviedo said in a news release.

As the man drove out of the parking lot, he turned south on George Dieter where Elena Alarcon, 84, and Adan Vasquez, 58, were crossing the street at a crosswalk, the news release states. The truck hit both pedestrians, resulting in serious injuries…
