A handful of Houston’s most dangerous apartments could be publicly listed in an effort to protect renter, but housing advocates say doesn’t go far enough and some city officials say will be too difficult to enforce.
Because of the concerns, the City Council voted 9-7 to not call the item up for a vote during Wednesday’s meeting. Council Member Twila Carter was absent from the meeting.
“We made the wrong decision today … I am so disappointed and embarrassed to sit on this council today,” Council Member Letitia Plummer said in teary-eyed remarks after the vote…
