Handgun incident at Copper Caboose leads to arrests in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas— Marisabel Casas, 29, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Dameon Pakus, 36, was charged with assault after an incident that occurred back in July of 2025.

According to an affidavit obtained by EverythingLubbock.com on Tuesday, the incident took place at Copper Caboose. A verbal altercation broke out between Casas, Pakus and two others. The altercation caused Pakus to swing at the victim, causing a fist fight to break out. This led Casas to return to her vehicle, grab a handgun and point it at people in the area.

The affidavit revealed that Casas told officers the incident began when witnesses started laughing at her and Pakus, which led to a physical altercation. During the fight, bystanders had to restrain Pakus. After both Casas and Pakus returned, still upset, they continued to argue with the witnesses. At that point, Casas brought her firearm into the business for personal protection and claimed she never aimed it at the bystanders; however, video evidence contradicted her statement…
