BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Speed kills, and the California Highway Patrol in Bakersfield says it took a reckless driver off the road before endangering more lives.

CHP in Bakersfield said in a social media post a driver in a Corvette was observed going 147 mph on Panama Lane east of Interstate 5 sometime Tuesday. An officer in the area spotted the Corvette, eventually pulling the driver over and making an arrest for reckless driving. The sports car was also towed, officials said.
The posted speed limit in the area is 55 mph.
Officials said speed is a factor is approximately 40% of all fatal and injury crashes in California…
