Coroner identifies victims killed in 2 separate Berkeley County fires

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) – The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the victims who died in two separate fires that occurred several days from each other.

Central Berkeley Fire and EMS Assistant Fire Chief Colt Roy responded to a home on Merrell Avenue in Bonneau for a fire at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday out on Assembly Lane. The coroner’s office also responded to the scene a couple of hours later of a camper that was on fire.

Susan Umphlett Landes, 68, of Moncks Corner, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Coroner Darnell Hartwell. A car also caught fire.
