New floodplain maps could require flood insurance for Chattanooga’s high-risk zones

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — In the wake of the historic August 12th flooding, Chattanooga city council is sharing how new federal floodplain maps could affect Chattanooga residents’ homes and wallets.

The maps, which take effect November 28th, show areas at higher risk of flooding.
