CLARKSVILLE, TENN. (WKRN) — A woman reportedly hit a police sergeant conducting traffic control on Saturday morning during the Clarksville Half Marathon.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, Sgt. Joel Gibbons was working a traffic control at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the intersection of University Avenue and Franklin Street. As runners approached the intersection, Gibbons reportedly stopped vehicle traffic to allow runners to pass through.

Authorities said 22-year-old Zoie Gaines was in a parking lot across from University Landing and was trying to exit onto Franklin Street. Gaines was reportedly instructed to stop and paused, but then accelerated forward and hit Gibbons, which caused him to land on the hood of the vehicle she was driving.
