Advocates Push Next Mayor to Do More for Black Students

As a contentious race for mayor comes to a close, families and advocates gathered on the steps of the Department of Education to call on the city’s next mayor to do more for the Black students. Among their top priorities are lower school suspension rates, better training for Black teachers, higher retention rates for Black educators, and a greater investment in the ability for young Black people to build generational wealth.
