First Friday Art Walk

The art walk will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7. Art, music, live performances, hands-on activities for all ages and more. The event is held in downtown Ocala. More at www.ocalafl.gov/artwalk. This year the city is including the Sunset Songs Series, with performances 7:30-9 p.m. at Citizens’ Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave., during the October, November and December art walks. Performing on Nov. 7 will be J & The Causeways (Soul/R&B.)

The art walk will be canceled in the event of inclement weather; the concerts will take place rain or shine, though they may be canceled if there is severe weather. ‘A Symphony of Color’

This new exhibit from local artist Richard Schleicher will be up at the Brick City Center for the Arts through Nov. 29. “This vibrant show features 63 original works inspired by Schleicher’s studies with The Cape School of Art, known for its focus on color and impressionistic technique,” organizers say. There will be an opening reception open to the public 5-7 p.m. Nov. 7 at The Brick, 23 SW Broadway St., Ocala. The gallery is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. 78th annual Holiday Bazaar

This event will begin Nov. 7 with Ladies Night, 5-7 p.m. Wine and cheese and first chance to shop! A $5 donation will be collected. The bazaar continues 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 8. All events are inside the Grace Episcopal Church parish hall, 505 SE Broadway St., Ocala. Hundreds of holiday gifts for sale. Proceeds benefit Interfaith Emergency Services and Ocala Farm Ministry.

Fifth annual Ocala Food & Wine Festival

Ocali Country Days Festival

This annual festival will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9 at the Silver River Museum & Environmental Educational Center, 6545 NE Seventh St., Ocala. Cost is $10 per person, with children 5 and younger free. Southern Express Big Band

This 17-piece ensemble will perform a Veterans Day concert at 3 p.m. Nov. 9 at Countryside Presbyterian Church, 7768 SW State Road 200, Ocala. Featured selections will include Glenn Miller and a salute to veterans with the anthem of each service branch. The Marion County Memorial Honor Guard will present colors. Free with love offering. Will McLean Foundation’s Sunday Sampler Concert Series: In Good Company

This concert will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 16 in the historic Dunnellon Depot, 12061 S. Williams St., Dunnellon. “The combined talents of these four accomplished musicians merge together and become even greater than the sum of their parts,” organizers say. Donation is $15 at the door, cash preferred.

‘A Dickens Christmas: The Urban Family’s Holiday Exhibition’

This holiday tradition is back at the Appleton Museum of Art. It will be up Nov. 1–Jan. 11. The exhibition features the Urban family’s extensive Christmas collection. “Visitors can enjoy beautifully decorated themed trees, the ever-popular Dickens Village miniature, an extensive nutcracker collection, handmade Santas from around the world, and much more. With new arrangements and details each year, the display offers something fresh for returning visitors to discover,” organizers say.

This exhibition from local photographer Tommy Cuevas “captures the everyday vibrance, human and hidden beauty of a community alive with activity,” organizers say. ‘Elements in Abstract’

This exhibition is up at the SouthState Bank Second Floor Gallery, 1632 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. “Curated by Kayla Moffatt, resident artist at The MAX Ocala, the exhibition brings together ten Florida artists — photographers, painters, fabric artists, and illustrators — each interpreting the elemental forces of earth, water, air, and fire through abstraction,” organizers say. ‘Color Me Courageous: Glimpses of a healing journey through art expressions’

This is the inaugural exhibition at Arts in Health Ocala Metro’s new Healing Arts Gallery, which organizers describe as “a new space dedicated to art that speaks to the innate connection between creativity and healing.” The exhibition, by abstract artist Roseprimevere, is up at the gallery, 2880 NE Eighth Road, Ocala, through March 31, with viewing by appointment: 352-723-5444.

New traveling exhibit at the Discovery Center: ‘Alma’s Way’

“Alma’s Way: Welcome to My Neighborhood!” is up at the Discovery Center through Jan. 3. “Based on the hit PBS KIDS animated series ‘Alma’s Way,’ the immersive exhibit brings the life of six-year-old Alma Rivera to Ocala.
