Florida Caretakers Accused of Forcing Elderly Woman To Shower With a Garden Hose and Stealing Her Home: ‘Exposed Internal Tissue and Bone’

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL — A Florida man and his alleged accomplice are behind bars after authorities say they abused and neglected an elderly woman, forced her to live in horrific conditions, and fraudulently transferred ownership of her home into their names.

According to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, 43-year-old Enrique Navedo and 58-year-old Loy Lynn La Pierre are accused of tormenting the victim while swindling her out of her property using a forged quitclaim deed.

“During interviews, the victim described being denied food, restricted from moving freely inside her home, and forced to use the restroom outdoors,” investigators wrote in a press release. “She was also made to shower in a small tent with a garden hose, providing only cold water and no temperature control.”

Horrific Abuse and Neglect Revealed During Investigation

Authorities began investigating in July 2025, after the Florida Department of Children and Families received a complaint about suspected elder abuse and neglect. Detectives visited the woman’s home, where they found conditions described as deplorable and unsafe
