ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The remains of a soldier killed 83 years ago when his plane was shot down are finally home. DNA was used to help identify the remains of Army Air Corps Staff Sgt. John Pagliuso, who was killed in action in World War II.
When American Airlines flight 1438 arrived at Frederick Douglass International Airport in Rochester on Wednesday, it carried special cargo. Norma Davis was there, waiting for someone she’d been waiting for her whole life.
“I feel a sense of loss that I didn’t really know him,” said Davis, Pagliuso’s niece. “But I’m getting to know him, and it’s exciting. It’s emotional. It’s a little of everything.”…
