Louisiana parents arrested after newborn died with ‘severed spine’ following ‘unimaginable abuse’

A Louisiana couple has been charged with murder after allegedly forcing their two-month-old daughter to endure “unimaginable abuse” before she died from internal bleeding after her lower spine was severed.

Taylor Daniel Broussard, 18, and Kaylee Fontenot, 20, are facing charges of first-degree murder, cruelty to juveniles and second-degree battery. Officers with the Opelousas Police Department (OPD) were called to a home on the 200 block of N. Liberty Street after a report of a medical emergency at approximately 8:09pm on October 25.

Upon arrival, they found the infant girl “not breathing” and immediately began lifesaving measures, the department said in a press release.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and the baby girl was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy found that the infant “suffered severe neglect and physical abuse,” OPD said…
