Two Louisiana parents are facing charges that include first-degree murder after the death of their daughter. Kaylee Fontenot and Taylor Broussard were arrested after police responded to a call about an infant in distress. Despite the best efforts of both police officers and paramedics, the girl died. When an autopsy was performed, horrific amounts of abuse were uncovered. The baby girl was only a couple of months old but had been physically harmed to the point where her spine was severed. Police are still investigating, but hopefully the parents stay in jail in the meantime.
Just after 8 p.m. October 25, 2025, officers from the Opelousas Police Department responded to a medical emergency, the department shared in a news release. A 2-month-old girl was not breathing. Immediately, officers began administering life-saving aid until paramedics arrived. Tragically, the baby girl was declared dead when she got to the hospital.
“Through interviews, investigators identified the parents as Kaylee Fontenot and Taylor Broussard and learned that the child had been in their exclusive custody since birth,” the release noted.
