17 year old arrested in Oklahoma City in killing of L.B. Landry High student in Algiers

A 17 year old was arrested last week in Oklahoma City in connection with the killing of L.B. Landry High School student Jyran Johnson in Algiers, New Orleans police said Monday.

Ronald Smith Jr. was arrested Oct. 27 on a count of second-degree murder after New Orleans Police Department detectives determined he was a suspect in the killing of Johnson, who was also 17. It was unclear Tuesday morning whether Smith will be extradited back to New Orleans.

Johnson, who NOLA Public Schools described as a “bright and beloved student,” was shot dead in the 3700 block of Texas Drive at around 8 p.m. on Oct. 6, according to NOPD…
