Graduation rates climb as Freeport schools earn exemplary status

Freeport School District is celebrating an increase in its graduation rate and Center School’s Exemplary Status, according to a community announcement.

The Illinois State Board of Education released the 2025 Illinois Report Card, which provides a detailed look at student performance data from the 2024-25 school year.

The report card reflects new proficiency benchmarks for English language arts, math and science, offering a more accurate picture of student learning and readiness for college and career. While these recalibrated benchmarks mean that 2025 proficiency rates should not be compared to prior years, state assessments and learning standards have not been altered.
