Death penalty upheld for Otis McKane in murder of San Antonio policeman

Otis McKane, a San Antonio man sent to death row for killing a San Antonio police officer in 2016, had his appeal denied by a Texas appeals court.

McKane was found guilty of capital murder of a police officer for the slaying of Det. Benjamin Marconi, 50.

The officer was shot in the head twice Nov. 20, 2016, as he sat in his patrol car outside Public Safety Headquarters. Testimony in the trial established that McKane shot Marconi out of anger toward the criminal justice system…
