Special bond continues 20 years after Eastbrook Mobile Home Park tornado

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – On the night of November 6, 2005, central dispatch answered dozens of calls as a tornado damaged 125 homes in southwestern Indiana. First responders say it was hard to get to Eastbrook Mobile Home Park, where 25 people died, due to the amount of debris blocking the roads.

Anne Groves, the deputy coroner at the time, says she will never forget that night. She says no street signs were left in the mobile home park, and homes were ripped apart as far as the eye could see.

But from that tragedy, a special bond formed between her and a family whose son’s body was found several days after the tornado.

Groves and Katheryn Martin became like mother and daughter after the tornado ripped through the mobile home park. Martin’s two-year-old son was visiting his grandmother and great grandmother when the storm hit. Their bodies were found a few days later…
