WATCH: Mayor Evans touts city’s public safety successes

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Mayor Malik Evans, as well as other city leaders, held a news conference to give an update on the city’s public safety efforts.

During the press conference, Mayor Evans and RPD Chief David Smith reported several statistics, including current data on gun violence and car theft.

They discussed how gun violence is still declining from its peak in 2021. According to them, shootings are down 57 percent, shots fired are down 52 percent, and total gunfire incidents are down 52 percent. Car theft is also significantly down compared to previous years…
