BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield City Council is expected to approve an agreement with the Kern County Public Health Department for nearly $2 million to continue providing affordable housing assistance for people with AIDS in fiscal year 2025-2026.
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS, also known as HOPWA, is a program authorized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It provides resources and incentives to prepare long-term strategies to meet the housing needs for people with AIDS, according to the agreement.
