$250K to go to Fresno families as SNAP benefits end

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno City Council unanimously approved a resolution on Thursday to allocate $250,000 for the Central California Food Bank to help families struggling to eat following the expiration of SNAP benefits.

City Council Member Nelson Esparza and Mayor Dyer introduced the proposal. According to city officials, $50,000 of the funding will come directly from Esparza’s District 7 budget.

The other $200,000 will be allocated from the General City Purpose fund. City officials say the funds will help provide an estimated one million meals to Fresno families in need…
