Debate over MEDC: Michigan spends billions, but jobs don’t follow

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Some state lawmakers are calling for the complete shutdown of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation amid concerns about the agency’s failure to produce results.

The MEDC has overseen several large-scale projects, including a massive battery plant in Lansing, another in Marshall and a proposed semiconductor facility in Flint.

They were pitched as “transformational” efforts that would bring new jobs and millions of dollars to local economies…
