Allen dropped off Kylo, a healthy nine-year-old dog, on October 10 for a weekend trip. On October 14, he received a call from the daycare’s owner, Leah Pekarsky, informing him of Kylo’s death. Earlier this year, Pekarsky was arrested on animal abuse charges for allegedly leaving dogs outside in hazardous conditions. The Manlius Police, accompanied by the Village of Manlius Codes Office, recently searched the facility, leading to its closure due to unsanitary conditions.
Reports from Syracuse.com and CNY Central describe the daycare as filthy, with dogs left alone for long periods. Allen’s complaint noted the facility’s poor hygiene and the distressing environment for the animals. Despite these issues, the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office has not filed criminal charges against Pekarsky at this time…
