Deputy and driver injured after car hits patrol vehicle on Sam Houston Toll Road

A driver slammed into a Harris County Precinct 7 constable deputy’s vehicle on Sam Houston Toll Road East Thursday, sending the driver and deputy to the hospital, according to authorities.

The deputy had been blocking the far right lane as a technician loaded a stranded car onto a tow truck on the eastbound side of the toll road, according to a Facebook post by the constable’s office. A driver who was allegedly distracted hit the deputy’s vehicle after trying to move from the right lane into the neighboring one as the technician was clearing the scene.

The collision was the second time a driver struck a Precinct 7 constable vehicle this week, according to the office. The previous crash happened Monday when a deputy was investigating a hit-and-run on Eastex Freeway.
