Federal Aid & Livestock Prices Cause Nebraska Farm Incomes to Soar

A recent study by the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) showed just how much of an impact government aid and a booming livestock economy will have on Nebraska farms and ranches this year.

The report–based on data from the Center for Agricultural Profitability at Nebraska and the Rural and Farm Finance Policy Analysis Center at Missouri–projects Nebraska net farm income increasing by $8.42 billion, or a 42% jump from 2024.

Although the overall numbers are up, crop producers might not see annual numbers in the green. Prices in corn and a lack of wheat and soybean production have driven crop receipts downward since their $16 billion peak in 2022.
