Car struck by train in Helena

HELENA, Ala. (WIAT) — A car was struck by a train on Aviation Road Friday morning.

Helena Fire Department said the collision happened around 5:00 am. No major injuries were reported from the crash.

Farmers’ Almanac says it will cease publication after 208 years, citing financial challenges

In a statement on its Facebook page, Helena Fire Department asked drivers to “Please be extra careful at all railroad crossings. Trains cannot stop quickly. Even this train, which was only carrying empty shipping containers, took around 2,000 feet (more than six football fields) to come to a complete stop after the impact.”
