FORT THOMAS, Ky. (WKRC) – Fort Thomas city leaders spent more than two hours on Wednesday diving into why an independent audit revealed the city must write off $322,000 due to inaccurate financial tracking over recent years.
Interim Finance Director Linda Chapman told the city council’s finance committee that “there’s no fraud here,” but attributed the issue to “sloppy accounting.”
“I’ve done enough fraud that I know there’s no fraud here. What I’m seeing is sloppy accounting, okay?” Chapman said during the finance committee meeting. “Looking at this honestly, I was quite surprised when I came in and saw the lack of detail or attention on the bank accounting side of the records.”…
