Volunteers from Miami animal rescue organization, Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, were devastated on Thursday when a small, senior dog was found and rescued off the streets of Florida City. For months, he had been completely neglected, forgotten, overlooked and suffering.
The dog, dubbed Noodles by his rescuers, barely weighed 10 pounds. When rescuers first spotted him, he had been running around the area terrified and hopping on three legs; his back foot was gone. His plight was truly heartbreaking. His coat was matted, his tiny body trembled, and he was defeated.
According to rescuers, Noodles’ owner had been deported three years ago, and the daughter who stayed behind, tried to care for him. And for an extended period of time, Noodles had been kept outside with little to no human interaction. She claimed the dog had been a “guard dog.”
Noodles is reportedly 14-years-old, and the dog needed out of the woman’s yard since she was leaving the country. No care, no warning and little more than an innocent victim of heartbreaking neglect.
For an hour, the volunteers worked to capture him, and once they were able to take a closer look, realized how desperate Noodles’ condition had been. Likely, amputating his leg would be the only option.
He is so severely matted that he can barely walk. His back leg is mangled, being held together by matted fur. He is skin and bones, filthy, and the stench of infection is unbearable.
He was rushed to the organization’s partner veterinarian for emergency care. His medical costs will be significant, but we refuse to turn away. He deserves a chance to live without pain…
