Fernandina Beach Resident Convicted of Cocaine Trafficking After Jacksonville Incident

Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Armaund Sims, 44, of Fernandina Beach, was convicted of cocaine trafficking. The conviction is related to an incident in Jacksonville on October 11, 2023. During that incident, Sims fled a traffic stop, crashed into another vehicle, and law enforcement recovered two kilograms of cocaine near the scene. The Department of Homeland Security and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

In February 2025, Sims was found guilty of fleeing law enforcement and sentenced to five years in prison. At that time, the jury did not reach a verdict on the trafficking charge.
