First responders from across the region, including the Virginia Department of Forestry, are on the scene of multiple brush fires in the same area of Montvale near Route 460.
According to Bedford County Department of Fire & Rescue, the individual brush fires are near Villamont Road, Hogan Road, and Quartz Road. The fires are approximately 75 percent contained.
Earlier, several structures were threatened by the fires, leading to the evacuation of several homes as a precaution. Those homeowners have been allowed to return to their homes. Only one structure—an unoccupied outbuilding—is known to have fire damage at this time…
